Experts Say New Ice Age Will Bring Food and Fuel Shortages

Right on schedule the damage has been occurring as cold has gripped the Northern Hemisphere as far south as Cuba and southern Italy.

(CHICAGO) - With an Ice Age comes abrupt change, and with change comes death—sometimes death on a massive scale.

More of the world's top scientists in the disciplines of geology, ecology, meteorology, astrophysics, and heliology [Down loadable list] are predicting that the two major cooling cycles are converging—the short term and long term Ice Ages—and Earth has just entered the beginnings of the dangerous cooling.

Both cooling periods are due and both seem to have started just as the sun's about to reach its solar maximum. When the sun goes quiet after 2012, it's expected to stay quiet for at least the next 30 to 50 years.

During that time, the sun will generate significantly less heat and the planets—including Earth—will cool rapidly.

Mass migrations and famines

Snow in Rome; February 2010

Now other scientists—including John L. Casey, the Director of the Space and Science Research Center—are warning that people in the coming decades are facing food and fuel shortages.

Some northern countries will be abandoned as the ice marches down from the Arctic; energy production will be interrupted; and shortened growing periods in the Northern Hemisphere will precipitate mass migrations, famines, food riots, regional conflicts and a loss of human life that could be measured on an apocalyptic scale.

Imminent crop damage was forecast back in 2007 and predicted to start by 2010.

Right on schedule the damage has been occurring as cold has gripped the Northern Hemisphere as far south as Cuba and southern Italy.

During the next 30 months the world's temperatures are predicted to drop even more dramatically and at a faster clip than the worldwide plunge recorded during 2007 to 2008.

Sun entering an extended "hibernation period"

According to Casey, “The Earth typically makes adjustments in major temperature spikes within two to three years. In this case as we cool down from El Nino, we are dealing with the combined effects of this planetary thermodynamic normalization and the influence of the more powerful underlying global temperature downturn brought on by the solar hibernation. Both forces will present the first opportunity since the period of Sun-caused global warming period ended to witness obvious harmful agricultural impacts of the new cold climate. Analysis shows that food and crop derived fuel will for the first time, become threatened in the next two and a half years. Though the SSRC does not get involved with short term weather prediction, it would not be unusual to see these ill-effects this year much less within the next 30 months.”

Other scientists concur and some see the speed at which the temperatures will drop as frightening.

Casy's organization has been at the forefront of the climate change controversy, correctly predicting in advance three important changes in the climate that many others missed: the end of global warming cycle (1999), a long term drop in the Earth’s temperatures (starting in 2006 to 2007) the unsettling prospect of an historic contraction of the Sun’s energy resulting in a never-before-seen solar hibernation. The hibernation is now recognized by NASA's Long Range Solar Forecast through 2022 and as well as the stunning slowdown of sun's activity.

At the urging of colleagues from around the globe that concur with him, Casey has taken an unprecedented step. "In view of the importance of this new forecast I have notified the Secretary of Agriculture to take immediate actions to prepare the nation’s agricultural industry for the coming crop damage.”

Editor's note: Before readers consider posting negative comments, I want to state that I am aware of the controversy surrounding the claims and even the background of John L. Casey. I truly believe that anyone who takes a position with regard to climate change is going to be subject to smear attacks and it does not take any license or degree to hurt a person's character by posting degrading statements. I do not see how his point about recurring ice ages have anything to do with the controversy, frankly.

I too am researching Mr. Casey's background and noted quotes from his critics like, "He has an undergraduate degree in physics and math, a master's in management, and appears to lack any sort of formal background or experience with climate science." Where his critics assault him, my thought is that Casey's educational background is a good basis for this type of work.

I refuse to believe that it requires a particular type of degree to comprehend the workings of nature. A well studied individual who knows the right people and reads the right material has every opportunity to learn what is necessary in this day and age to reach important findings.

And personally, I don't just think, I know man has horribly damaged the planet and I can believe that humankind has contributed to changing weather patterns, but I don't know for certain. I do however believe that ice ages have overtaken the earth and I have lived long enough to know how quickly bad weather can set in and not leave a particular region.

OMG what happened to Global Warming? Everyone was so into that now we are getting Iceage? Why don't these people make up their mind?

TO Kris: If you read John Holdrens book from the 70's (holdren is obama's science czar) he wrote in his book we are the verge of an ice age. THen its warming..He seems to change his mind frequently. Dont you feel warm and comfy having this guy our science czar? Using the weather to scare people to help get the elite agenda accomplished?

stephen January 4, 2011 11:03 am (Pacific time)

Ditto John H. January. And in regards to climate change, I dont know, the climate changes I guess, but the elite who push the agenda that will do NOTHING to help, only make more money and take more control of our lives..That is a fact.

In the 1960's, if one wants to take the time to verify, it was a time when the lefties were claiming a new Ice Age was coming unless we started using less oil products. The current Global Warming alarmists are no different than the same gang from the 60's, like them they base their predictions on emotionally based opinions throwing in some irrelevant facts. Trouble is the current batch of "Chicken Little's" are intent on abusing their power positions. Expect costs of all consumer goods to increase rapidly unless our congress defunds various government organizations.

Thank God someone finally has the guts to speak out about this. For more information, please visit Anthony Watts' website "Watts Up With That".

This man could add to his credibility by also discussing the various government weather modification programs that exist. If we want to examine temperature changes on a global scale this has to be included.

Someone with the knowledge of physics and math can clearly analyze the same data that "experts" use to determine what the data are telling us. I would better trust someone with these credentials than someone working for a government "think tank".
