Tech Savvy Kids and the Un-Informed Parent

(KEIZER) - On March 8, 2014 from 9 am to noon, the Keizer Police Department will be hosting a free class to parents called Tech Savvy Kids and the Un-Informed Parent. This class will be held in the Keizer Civic Center located at 930 Chemawa Rd NE.

The target audience are those parents who want to know what children are doing online with social media, parents who want to know more about parental rights and those parents who want to learn how to better monitor their tech savvy child.

Officers will explain "Sexting and Sextortion" and how these can lead to cyber bullying and even incarceration. There will be case studies, handouts and other resources available. Representatives from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon will be on hand to help parents with setting up parental controls on their accounts and to answer any carrier information questions.

RSVP is not required and children are welcome however due to the mature nature of the content parents should use discretion when bringing younger children.
