(Keizer) - Officers in Keizer seized several children late Thursday night after investigators determined that they were left in a position where they could access drugs including methamphetamine. Two Keizer residents and two people listed as transients were arrested on drug charges and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, from two separate locations. In began Thursday around 11:30 PM when members from the Keizer Police Department Community Response Unit assisted by Patrol Officers, investigated a Drug Activity Complaint at 1167 Dearborn Ave NE in Keizer. During the investigation at that address, Sgt. Jeff Isham says officers located a small amount of methamphetamine, scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia, `That included a child`s baby bottle that had been converted to a smoking device for drugs." Isham says an 8-month old and a 6-year-old child lived at the residence, `They could easily access all of the items that were located." He says there were also numerous large high dollar power tools that police suspected were stolen. Two people at the Dearborn location, 26-year old Jennifer Geiger and 24-year old Ian Smith were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. They both also had outstanding Marion County Probation Violation Warrants for their arrest, according to Isham. The Department of Human Services took both children at the residence into protective custody. The investigation led officers to room #324 at the Wittenberg Inn. There, officers say they found methamphetamine, marijuana and more property that they believed to be stolen. There were four children asleep inside of the motel room ranging from ages 2 to 10-years old, according to Isham, `Based on the location of the drugs and paraphernalia, it was determined that the children could easily access those items." Two people at that location, 30-year old Rudolph Valenciano and 29-year old Martha Sandoval were arrested for the drug charges and four counts of endangering a minor. All four children were taken into protective custody by DHS. Early Friday morning, Keizer Community Response investigators arrived to work and began communicating with the Tualatin Police Department about the property that was found at both locations. It was determined that the property was probably related to the burglary of a business in Tualatin a few nights earlier. Keizer Police went back to the location at 1167 Dearborn Ave NE and took control of the property while Tualatin officers were en route to that location. The Community Response Unit`s investigation led to the recovery of over $4,000 dollars worth of stolen property. Tualatin Police Department is still investigating the burglary. All of the people arrested were transported to the Marion County Correctional Facility.
