(MARION COUNTY, Ore.) - Today at about 11:30 am, Marion County Sheriff's Deputies were called to investigate a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Arbor Grove Road NE and St. Paul Highway.

Investigators with the MCSO Crash Team have concluded that 50-year old Duane Nelson, of Dallas, was driving south on Arbor Grove Road NE when he crashed his silver Mazda 3 through a stop sign and the car slid underneath a semi-truck and trailer that was traveling westbound on St. Paul Highway.

Tragically, Mr. Nelson was killed instantly and the semi-truck driver and his passenger were not injured. The truck driver cooperated with investigators and there is no further action anticipated in this case.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Crash Team and the Oregon State Police are on scene and investigating. St. Paul Highway and a portion of Arbor Grove remained closed for about 3 hours.
