(Salem) - Wheatland Ferry operation has been stopped due to low water levels in the Willamette River.

According to a press release issued Thursday afternoon, ferry operators will be dredging the river soon in order to quicken the process of opening the ferry for operation.

When the river level rises, and the dredging work is completed, the Wheatland Ferry will again be operating.

The current river level, as of 2:00 PM Thursday, is 9.14 ft. Salem area weather forecast
