(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - A head-on crash between two vehicles on westbound Highway 26 just west of the Bethany on-ramp Tuesday resulted in the serious injuries of two people.

Beaverton Police and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue responding to the scene of the crash at at 3:42 PM.

Paul Wandell with Beaverton Police says the adult male driver of one vehicle was extricated rapidly and transported by Life Flight to OHSU's trauma center with possible life-threatening injuries.

"Firefighters had to remove portions of the second vehicle to extricate the second car's driver, an adult female. She was taken by Metro West Ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital."

Wandell says that to ensure emergency worker safety and for the safety of motorists, all lanes of west bound Highway 26 were shut down until Life Flight had departed.

Beaverton Police officers will be conducting the investigation into the crash, Wandell said. There is no additional information at this time.
