UPDATE: County Employee Shot Dead at Hwy. 224 and Amsigger Rd. Suspect Remains at Large

Sheriff's Office responds to fatal shooting, seeks tips from public, adds photos of suspect's Mercedes Benz.

(CLACKAMAS) - UPDATED 2-7-2014, The victim in this case has been identified as Grady Waxenfelter, a weighmaster in the Transportation Maintenance Division of Clackamas County.

Grady came to Clackamas County in 1987 as a mechanic, was promoted to senior mechanic in 1999 and served as a County weighmaster since 2005. The Sheriff's Office offers its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and co-workers.

Attached to this release are photos of the actual suspect vehicle in this case. This is a 2004 Mercedes 320 bearing the Washington license plate of ANB7070.

Please call 911 if you see this vehicle or have information regarding the whereabouts of Dirck Morgan White. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators are working around the clock to track down the suspect in this case.

On Thursday, Feb. 6 at 10:48 a.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported shooting on Hwy. 224 near Amsigger Road outside of Barton. The shooting is considered a homicide, and suspect Dirck Morgan White -- 41, of Edgefield, WA -- is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. Tips are sought. If you see Dirck White, call 911 immediately.

At 10:48 a.m., an unknown caller contacted 911 to report a person had been fatally shot. Deputies arrived and discovered the deceased was a Clackamas County weighmaster.

At this writing, SWAT and other first responders are searching for suspect Dirck Morgan White and his vehicle -- a silver 4-door 2004 Mercedes 320 bearing the Washington license plate ANB7070. Full description below.

Deputies closed Highway 224 between Bakers Ferry Rd. (on the west side) and Hwy. 224 and 211 (on the east side), and also closed Amsigger Road while CRAFT (Crime Reconstruction and Forensic Team) and CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) responded to the crime scene. Highway 224 and Amsigger Rd are now re-opened.

Complete family notifications are still underway, and we will release the victim information at a later date.

SUSPECT INFO, PHOTOS; TIPS SOUGHT

Based on evidence gathered at the scene, a suspect has been identified. Police are searching for DIRCK MORGAN WHITE -- 41 years old, from Edgewood, WA. Suspect photos are attached. He is considered armed and dangerous. White is wanted on a weapons offense out of Pierce County, Washington.

Dirck White was last seen driving a silver 4-door 2004 Mercedes 320 bearing the Washington license plate ANB7070.

If you see homicide suspect Dirck White, do NOT engage him -- call 911 or contact your local law enforcement.
