(SALEM, Ore.) - The tragedy in Haiti has commanded the world's attention in recent weeks as it should. The plight of the Haitian people is now reaching the levels of disparity that exist on a daily basis in Gaza. The difference is that Mother Nature didn't destroy Gaza, the Israeli's did.

Anything Israel does... any military act against a child or mother or senior citizen in Palestine, is totally and completely endorsed by the U.S. government. The United Nations had the courage to submit the infamous Richard Goldstone Report, but in its complicity, the U.S. totally turned the other way and dismissed it.

The part that always amazed me, is that Goldstone is South African, and Jewish, but this highly respected world level prosecutor didn't let his religion enter as a factor in his report, and that was a smart and honorable thing to do, because the particular religion a country practices is totally insignificant.

If anything, the quick draw reaction of anti-Palestinian Zionists; to call writers like myself 'anti-Semite', is becoming an old see-through game.

The majority of Israel's people have convinced themselves that they have to strike out at Gaza. It is because the Gaza Strip is one of the last holdouts toward Israeli oppression, and one of the few sections of land that is still Palestine.

Rockets are fired out of Gaza by Hamas, toward Israel, and the reaction is to level the place. But the people the Israeli's kill are not usually Hamas officials or police, but the citizens.

Sometimes foes of Palestine point to the dissent that takes place within Palestine, but these people have been splintered into groups because of the oppression they live with, and have lived with, since shortly after the close of WWII.

Israel doesn't spare hospitals or schools when it attacks, in fact the Jewish state, with its ultra-sophisticated military guidance systems, specifically targeted half of Gaza's hospitals just over a year ago, then their snipers picked off Palestinian ambulance drivers from afar.

As the horror of Haiti unfolded I have been thinking that same thought, where was all the aid for Palestine? Where is that aid now? Where is the indignation over 1400 or half as many killed as were killed at the world trade center in New York? In a tiny country, half as many killed and only in one 3 week period and the killing goes on and on and on as it has since the time when this old gramma was one year old. Over 60 years.
