Injury Accident sends Salem Woman to Hospital

The driver was transported to Salem Hospital where she is in serious, but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police say a woman received serious injuries this afternoon when she drove her car into the path of an oncoming Kenworth semi-truck.

Salem Police Lieutenant Keith A. Blair, says officers responded around 1:45 PM to a report of an injury accident involving a 1999 Kenworth semi-truck pulling a 48-foot trailer and a red 2002 Ford Escort 4-door on Edgewater Street NW.

He says this happened at the on-ramp to Salem-Dallas Hwy and Manor View Circle NW.

The 61-year old driver of the Ford Escort, Donna Vance, of Salem had left a stop sign and driven into the path of the Kenworth semi-truck that was heading westbound on Edgewater St NW on the on-ramp to the Salem-Dallas Hwy, Blair said.

Donna Vance was transported to Salem Hospital where she is in serious, but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Blair says the accident remains under investigation.
