(KEIZER) - On Saturday, December 30th at 5:08 AM officers from the Keizer Police Department responded to 4119 River Road North on a report of an armed person who had threatened to kill someone. When officers arrived, they learned that the armed suspect was still inside the apartment, as were the victims, and they requested the Salem Police Department respond to assist. Both victims, Tonya Bodda and Jorge Hernandez-Ramirez, had barricaded themselves in a bedroom upstairs to distance themselves from the intruder. Officers were able to detain the suspect approximately twenty minutes after their arrival, and he was taken into custody without any further incident. Police say that shortly before 5:08 AM, 22-year old Jesus Hernandez, of Salem, forced his way into Tonya Bodda’s apartment. Officers believe Jesus Hernandez is the ex-boyfriend of Tonya Bodda. Hernandez allegedly threatened both victims and told them he was going to kill Jorge Hernandez-Ramirez. He then armed himself with at least two knives officers believe he obtained from within the residence. When the suspect armed himself both victims retreated to an upstairs bedroom and barricaded themselves in it for their safety. Tonya Bodda made a telephone call to her mother for assistance and her mother called 911 for police to respond. Officers found the bedroom door was damaged, apparently caused by Jesus Hernandez as he tried to force his way into the room to harm the victims. He was arrested for one count of Attempted Murder, one count of First Degree Burglary, one count of Menacing, one count of Second Degree Disorderly Conduct, and one count of Second Degree Criminal Mischief. Additional charges may be forthcoming after the Marion County District Attorney’s Office has had an opportunity to review this incident. He was transported and lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility. 21-year old Quintin Samuel Smith, a black male whose last known address was 1290 Summer Street NE in Salem, was present when officers initially arrived on scene but left on foot before he could be thoroughly questioned. The Keizer Police Department has probable cause for his arrest at this time for at least one count of First Degree Burglary and for Probation Violation. Anyone knowing of his whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
