The vehicle was upside down and almost completely submerged. One of the males was the driver who was pulled from the water by a male who was not involved in the crash.

The female passenger in the vehicle was able to get out and swam to shore on the other side of the river. Two passerby's waded across and provided her aid until rescue crews arrived.

After reaching the injured parties rescue crews had to use a rapid deployment craft raft to bring them to shore. Then they had to be brought up a steep cliff by rope teams.
