(OTIS, Ore.) - A serious injury crash occurred on SR HWY 18 near MP 2 about 6:00 p.m. December 24, 2015. Two drivers were transported to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital and were listed in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 1998 Nissan Maximum, driven by 34-year old Richard Loy JR., from Lake Oswego, was traveling westbound when his vehicle crossed the center-line.

The Nissan struck a eastbound 1993 Dodge Dakota driven by 59-year old Bobby Kress from Otis, Oregon. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles.

They were both initially transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital. It is unknown if either driver was wearing their safety belts.

The highway was closed for approximately five hours and a detour had been established.

The investigation is continuing.

OSP was assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Lincoln City Police Department, Pac-West Ambulance, North Lincoln Fire and Rescue, ODOT, and the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office.
