Oregon State Police Investigate Two Suspicious Powder Incidents in Salem Area

(SALEM) - Oregon State Police detectives are conducting an investigation into two separate suspicious letters containing powder that were received at two State agency locations in Salem. In both instances, testing by Salem Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team responders determined the powder was non-hazardous. On December 22nd at approximately 12 noon, two reports were received of suspicious mail at Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife Headquarters in Keizer and at the Capitol Mall. Appropriate safety precautions were taken to limit access until the powder could be tested. Both locations have returned to normal operations as there were no evacuations. No additional details will be released related to the incidents as Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division detectives are investigating.
