(SALEM, Ore.) - A person died today in a crash near the intersection of Vitae Springs Road and Skyline Road in south Salem. The incident had a major impact in traffic this morning affecting many parents who were transporting their children to school.

Marion County Sheriff deputies investigating the crash have re-opened the intersection where it occurred.

Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says more information and photos will be released early this afternoon.

It has been reported that icy conditions may have led to the crash. Over the coming months icy roads will be a potential problem in Oregon.

Drivers are reminded that bridges always freeze first and a driver has little to no control over a vehicle after it hits a spot of ice on the roadway.
