(HUNTINGTON, Ore.) - Police say an adult female died Saturday afternoon when she lost control of her car and was struck by a commercial truck on Interstate 84 near Huntington in eastern Oregon.

Oregon State Police Lieutenant Gregg Hastings, says troopers are continuing the investigation into the crash in which icy conditions were a contributing factor.

OSP Sergeant Darin Helman says today at approximately 12:31 p.m. a 1982 Ford four-door driven by the 22-year old victim, was eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 339.

"The victim lost control and slid sideways into the center of the eastbound lanes where it was struck in the side by a trailing commercial truck," Helman said.

"The victim driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her 26-year old male passenger received non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Huntington ambulance to Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario."

Helman says the truck driver was not injured.

OSP troopers from the Baker City work site are continuing the investigation, Hastings said. Oregon's Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
