Explosive Device Blows Up Seriously Injuring Police in Woodburn (AUDIO)

(WOODBURN, Ore.) - Federal, state, county and local police are beginning an investigation into a Friday afternoon incident that seriously injured police at a Woodburn area bank.

They say that today during the late afternoon hours, Woodburn police, with the assistance of FBI and an Oregon State Police Bomb Technician were investigating a suspicious device at the West Coast Bank on Highway 214 east of Interstate 5.

While officers were in the area the device detonated resulting in serious injuries.

Highway 214 is closed in both directions east of Interstate 5 toward Woodburn downtown Woodburn. Traffic is being directed around the area. An incident command post has been established.

ODOT is assisting with traffic control while police investigate. Expect a prolonged overnight closure, and use alternate routes.

As noted above, a media briefing is scheduled for possible release of additional information.
