(WEST SALEM, Ore.) - Aaron Felton, former Deputy DA in Polk County, has announced his candidacy for Polk County District Attorney. Felton has worked as a lawyer in the mid- Willamette Valley since 1994. His 12 years of legal experience includes serving four years as a Deputy DA in Polk County, as counsel to the House Civil Judiciary Committee of the Oregon Legislature, and currently as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Salem. “I have the experience and ability to hit the ground running,” Felton said. “It is the fundamental right of every citizen to feel safe in their home, their neighborhood, and their community,” Felton stated. “The role of the district attorney is to provide justice by working with law enforcement to prosecute those who threaten the lives, security, and property of others.” “As your next District Attorney, I will lead a team that will aggressively, effectively, and efficiently prosecute criminal activity, support crime victims, and enforce the laws of Oregon with consistency and integrity.” Story continues below Felton vowed to strengthen the Polk County District Attorney’s Office’s existing relationships with local law enforcement, social services, and community partners. He also pledges to bring forth innovative ideas to meet the growing needs of the community. “If there is one thing I learned as a prosecutor, it is that good, effective law enforcement involves a combination of innovative community based solutions, as well as time proven traditional methods of crime prevention.” Felton graduated from South Salem High School, the University of Oregon,and Willamette University College of Law. He and his wife Michelle live in West Salem. Felton has two stepsons who attend Oregon colleges.
