(SALEM, Ore.) - Tenth-year head coach Terry Williams learned that Willamette's head women's basketball coach Bruce Henderson collapsed and passed away from a heart attack during practice yesterday evening inside Cone Field House.

After both athletic directors conversed over the phone, it was decided that tonight's Corban-Willamette women's basketball game should be canceled so that everyone could focus on this unforeseen tragedy.

Henderson, who was in his fourth season as head coach of the Bearcats, had competed against former head coach Dave Bale three times and Williams once during his tenure at Willamette. Unfortunately for Henderson and the Bearcats, Corban was 4-0 against its cross-town NCAA Division III rival.

More information regarding Henderson's passing and memorial services will be released later today, as information is received from Willamette's athletic department.
