Group Seeks to Ban Toxic Chemicals from Baby Bottles

While the FDA might say the chemical is not proven to be dangerous, a growing number of recent studies are showing that BPA may increase the risk of breast and prostate cancer, and developmental problems in the womb and early childhood. Urge Congress to ban BPA now.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - A growing number of scientists are seriously questioning the safety of Bisphenol-A (BPA), a chemical found in many hard plastic containers, including baby bottles and water bottles. Yet the FDA reported recently that there is an "adequate margin of safety" in what they consider to be typical exposure to this chemical.

But do we really want to wait for proven danger, when enough studies are raising concerns for the longterm health of our children? Urge Congress to ban the use of BPA in baby bottles and children's products.

The chemical manufacturers who produce more than 6 billion pounds of bisphenol each year in the U.S are certainly applauding the FDA's recent report.

But Canadian health officials took a prudent approach this year when they proposed banning BPA in baby bottles. Their studies also didn't find a clear and present danger, but the studies raised enough red flags to make them protect the most vulnerable. Just in case.

While the FDA might say the chemical is not proven to be dangerous, a growing number of recent studies are showing that BPA may increase the risk of breast and prostate cancer, and developmental problems in the womb and early childhood. Urge Congress to ban BPA now.

A petition to U.S. Congress is gaining signatures. You can find that Petition here.
