(SALEM) - Salem Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman found burning under the 13th street bridge near Mill Race at about 1:00 am on Tuesday August 29, 2006.

Police officers arriving on the scene said the woman was already deceased when they arrived.

Investigators say they are still in the process of confirming the woman's identity, and notification to her next of kin is still pending.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday at the State Medical Examiner's office in Clackamas. It was determined that her death was caused by homicidal violence.

Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact Det. Jamie Vasas at 503-588-6050 x 7153.
