Two Arrested Following Attempt to Elude in Stolen Vehicle East of RoseburgSalem-News.com
(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Two suspects were arrested Monday evening after stealing a car in Roseburg and attempting to elude Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) and Oregon State Police (OSP). The suspects' fleeing attempt ended after driving into an open barn in the Dixonville area where they were arrested.
On August 21, 2011 at approximately 6:00 p.m. OSP Senior Trooper Don Frerichs was notified by radio that a DCSO deputy was attempting to stop a blue 1997 Honda four-door for a speed violation on Highway 138E near milepost 7. The Honda eluded the deputy before Frerichs spotted it southbound on Dixonville Road where it continued attempting to elude the trooper.
The Honda turned onto a private driveway, recklessly driving past a residence and into an open barn on the property. Frerichs took both suspects from the car into custody without further incident. The Honda had been reported stolen to Roseburg police about an hour earlier.
Based upon investigations by OSP, DCSO and Roseburg Police Department, both suspects were lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:
Driver Minnette Maxine Spence, age 26, from Roseburg
Spence was also cited for violation Driving While Suspended.
Passenger Michael Allen Davis, age 22, from Roseburg
