Salem-News.com Writer Dr. Franklin Lamb Shot in Tripoli

So much for free speech, so much for U.S. led causes.

Dr. Franklin Lamb
Dr. Franklin Lamb - our prayers are with you....

(SALEM / TRIPOLI) - Dr. Franklin Lamb who contributes regularly to Salem-News.com and is originally from Salem, Oregon, was shot in Tripoli Sunday after returning from a bike ride.

He has been in place telling the real story from Libya, where so-called 'rebels' work with big money operators like NATO and the U.S. to Murder government officials.

But these so-called rebels who seem more motivated by western interests that those that would benefit Libya, infiltrated Tripoli over the last week.

Franklin, along with Cynthia McKinney, former U.S. Congresswoman, was among the first to speak out against the current deadly NATO mission. He is absolutely one of our most experienced reporters in this part of the world, and he has worked to remove and relieve suffering the entire team.

This in my view, builds a level of credibility that has few rivals.

Now Franklin has been shot, but he is going to be OK. This is a hard message to receive. We are very heartened however to know that the bullet struck Franklin in the leg and that he is recovering.

This message was sent to Salem-News.com by a common friend:

The Palestine Civil Rights Campaign-Lebanon confirms that Franklin Lamb was shot at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Sunday August 21 in Tripoli, Libya outside of the Corinthia Hotel where he has been staying.

Franklin had just returned from a 90 minute bicycle tour of central Tripoli and was walking past the Hotel swimming pool when he was hit in his right leg.

Witnesses report having seen sniper fire coming from the roof of the Marriott Hotel across from the Corinthia.

Franklin is basically OK. The bullet has been removed and he is resting comfortably and wishes that no one be concerned because he will be fine.

Internet has been cut in Libya and events inside Tripoli are unclear. The PCRC will advise if events warrant.

In solidarity...

There are few human beings alive today who go through as much, as far, as Franklin Lamb. He is incredibly witty and funny and always deeply appreciative of the plight of the Palestinian people. Most of Franklin's reports on Salem-News.com have been issued from Beirut, where Franklin works as an international attorney at the Sabra-Shatilla refugee camp. His stories make my eyes water, the loss and the triumph are awesome and motivating in this life.

It is not clear who the shooter was, but Franklin's reports have been anything but flattering of the so-called rebel cause to defeat a government the U.S. and western world saw fit to be friendly to for decades.

Keep your bullets away from media, only cowards shoot press.

I hope Dr. Lamb will forgive me for being concerned despite his reassurances. He is a remarkable human being that willingly puts himself in harm’s way to provide credible reporting and analysis so often missing from other media outlets. Be well and stay safe, doctor.
