(SUTHERLIN, Ore.) - Two Washington men were arrested after approximately 65 pounds of cocaine were found in hidden compartments in their car during a traffic stop Thursday morning. Police say that about 10:00 AM, August 20th, an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2007 Honda Accord displaying Washington license plates traveling north on 1-5 near milepost 140, for following too close and other hazardous traffic offenses. "Winston", a DINT drug detection canine with Douglas County Interagency Narcotics Team, assisted Oregon State Police. Authorities say the seized cocaine has an estimated value of approximately $600,000. The two individuals arrested are the driver, 25-year old Cristian Escalante-Castaneda, and passenger 28-year old Alfonso Garcia-Castaneda, both from Seattle, Washington. The two men were lodged in Douglas County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine. The investigation is continuing. | Support Salem-News.com: Quick Links

I don't care if 90% of the cocaine comes from Mars...if it wasn't for wealthy or semi-wealthy white citizens purchasing it, there would be no one to sell it to. STS ...do you think the illegals up here working in the fields buy cocaine? No....it is the WHITES.....I agree with you on everything usually, but have low tolerance for the "blame the Mexicans" mindset. That is a cop-out.

WHoever you are..try looking up our own oregon judicial crime agenda. Maybe this stuff did not come from mexico, but if you look up what I mentioned, 90% does. Excuse me if I jumped the gun, but with 90%, its kinda easy to do. And did you even take a momnet to look at the NAMES?? They dont sound too canadian to me. FROM SEATTLE? what a laugh..look at the names again bro. :-) I had every right to accuse the mexican border being the problem.

what are you talking about? these guys were from SEATTLE. Not Mexico. Just because they were driving north toward home doesn't prove anything. the borders may have zero to do with this story, but a great excuse to blame our mexican neighbors. maybe DARE should teach kids coke is worse than pot, then they wouldn't use it without knowing the risk. Remember the 80's.
