(SALEM, Ore. ) - On August 9, the Marion County Sheriff's Office was requested by the Salem Police Department to investigate a disturbance that occurred at a Salem residence involving an off duty Salem Police Officer. Responding Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies found that 40-year-old Salem Police Officer Brandon Hanes, had been in an altercation at the location. Deputies interviewed all parties and witnesses and then referred the case to the Marion County District Attorney. On August 14, a warrant was issued for Hanes's arrest for the charge of Harassment. That same date, Hanes was arrested, booked and later released from the Marion County Jail. Hanes's next court date has been set for August 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex. Hanes has been placed on administrative leave by the Salem Police Department pending an internal investigation, which is standard in these types of matters. Source: Marion County Sheriff's Office
