Oregon Police Seek Man Over Homicide Involving Deputy

(GERVAIS, Ore.) - Police and prosecutors are asking for the public's assistance in locating a Woodburn man wanted on homicide charges related to a June 16th fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 99E near Gervais.
The two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of two people, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Kelly Fredenburg and Oscar Oscencio-Amaya.
A warrant now exists for the arrest of 20-year old Alfredo De Jesus–Ascencio of Woodburn who was driving the car that struck the deputy's vehicle.
Police say that around 11:30 PM on June 16th, De Jesus–Ascencio was the driver of a Ford Crown Victoria northbound on Highway 99E which crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound Marion County Sheriff's patrol car driven by 34-year old Deputy Kelly Fredinburg.
The Marion County Sheriff's patrol car caught fire and Deputy Fredinburg was pronounced deceased at the scene.
De Jesus–Ascencio was critically injured and transported to Oregon Health Sciences University.
Two passengers were traveling with De Jesus–Ascencio. The right front passenger, 19-year old Oscar Ascencio-Amaya, died from his injures the next day at Oregon Health Sciences University. A second passenger received minor injuries and was taken to Salem Hospital where he was treated and released.
De Jesus–Ascencio is described as a Hispanic male, 5'4" tall, 140 pounds, with dark hair and brown eyes. As a result of the injuries he suffered in the crash, he is believed to be using a walker. He was last known to be in the Woodburn area on August 9th.

TO: HOLD ON ALICE...DON'T BURN ANY CROSSES Maybe if you did your research a little better you would know that it was Alfredo that crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and caused the crash. But then again, I shouldn't expect stupid people to do their research before opening their mouth and speaking....... how stupid of me!

He might be a "legal" one but he looks like a retarded ape. Lots of in-breeding going on in that race class from their roots. They might get along well with some deep south folk here in America too. In all seriousness, if this was the driver he does look flat out stupid enough for the crime. If you could convict on looks....

All the bad hispanics make the good ones look bad.....Like my husband and our family and friends. They would all give the shirt off there backs. But the bad ones make all Hispanics look bad. But like people have been saying crime comes in all colors not just hispanics. People are just going back to the 70's-80's where there was all sorts of racism in this country. But now you all have to live with it cause more and more immigrants will become legalized....And Sue you have a very good point.

There is so many questions I have about this story. Did the driver have vaild ODL? Did he have insurance? Was he here legally? Was he drinking or impaired? Who took care of the medical bills? Nobody has really answered all my ???? . All we know is the guys' missing.I'm very sad for the victims of this crash and the horrific way that the Deputy died. Also all the fellow police officers and responders that couldn't save those that died on scene.Is any reporter going to have the guts to dig into this story and tell us what went on. What happened to journalism?

Not to say the people who are out their dont have a OR. Driver lic. or car /truck Ins. or have some record on file! and i should pay 34.50 to DMV.....why not leave home without it! plus have my car tow!

Well am no cop! but my Grandpa was was in fall city OR. and I know the codes that the police use in going to a call! from code 1=3 and yes thy have to speed! code 3 means a Emergency> lights and sirens! code 2 is just lights.......but if people dont know the rules of the road......u are to pull to the right!not only that if u had a real Emergency would u want then to come code 1. then be mad because thy didnt get their in time......time dose matter! so think about it if it was your family member that need help when u call 911

well am not pointing fingers here or am I blumeing no 1!!! but I myself didnt do a crime and its with the DA office for life....something i didnt do! but people are getting bye with big stuff and getting bye with it! is that right!til it happen to u sue maybe u will understand!because i didnt do the crime.......and thy did! its a fact! people just lie.....and dont come forward!

Doesn't a grand jury have indict him before the cops can throw him in jail? I am not a lawyer, but I thought someone had to be charged before they could be held past 24 hours. I'm sure we don't have extra cops to guard people that might be indicted. Also, there are plenty of white americans commiting crimes. The media just seems to focus on immigrants so that people like Alice can be justified with their racism.

That's lovely, Alice. Go read up on the death of 77-year old George Lester Bertoglio that steve referred to, and I'm sure you'll be surprised to learn that the criminal there was an American-born white kid.

The Hispanics involved were legal citizens..funny how all the haters assume because they were brown they were either intoxicated or illegal. And lets not forget the circumstances of this so-called homicide. Five different police cars were SPEEDING to a routine domestic disturbance call...FIVE. Deputy Fredinburg was travelling at a high rate of speed when he hit the other car. The car in front of the Hispanics saw the lights of the approaching speeding patrol car and pulled over abruptly , causing them to have to swerve to miss it. None of the occupants or the driver had been drinking. So it appears to a lot of us , that the deputy, in his zeal to be the first cop on the scene of a routine domestic disturbance, caused the crash. Prosecute him.

Unbelievable! Why was he let out of the hospital when his arrest was imminent? I really am sick of hearing about all these deaths and crimes that seem to me, to be committed by illegal immigrants. Every time I turn on the TV or read a news story on the net it seems to be a young illegal that has committed the crime and they seem to slip away. Back to Mexico until they think the coast is clear. It just makes my blood boil! No respect for American laws or lives, apparently!

I dont know whats wrong with our justice system! If you do the crime you need to do the time! We have a 77 year old man hit and killed and all the guy gets is a citation! Then the deputy in Marion County was killed and a passenger was killed too! Now the guy that did it is gone! Two dead! No justice! It shouldn't matter if you are white, black, brown, green, pink or purple. Everyone should be prosecuted if they commit a crime. Especially murder!
