Drivers MUST obey the school flashing lights during the testing.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The City of Salem, Salem Police, and the Salem-Keizer School District want you to Be Aware! that the city will begin it's annual testing of area school flashing beacon systems this week, in preparation for the 2014-15 school year.

Starting Thursday morning, city crews will be testing the school flashing beacon systems, located in north and east Salem.

On the morning of Tuesday, August 19, city crews will be conducting the same tests in south and west Salem.

The tests will allow staff to perform any necessary maintenance prior to the start of the school year.

Police want to remind drivers that they MUST obey the school flashing lights during the testing.
