Shaw Man Arrested on Child Sex Abuse ChargesSalem-News.com
Investigators want to hear from other possible victims of Steven Wyler.
(SALEM) - Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a Shaw man on sexual assault related charges involving children under the age of 16 years old.
Lt. Bob Stai with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says the investigation began on Wednesday when his agency was contacted by an acquaintance of 56-year old Steven J. Wyler, after they discovered digital images of children who appeared to be under the age of 18 years, depicting sexually explicit conduct.
Detectives say Wyler is being cooperative, and that he has identified more than one of his juvenile victims. He told detectives that the incidents occurred at locations both in and out of Marion County.
Wyler has resided in the Shaw, Oregon area and is employed by a local construction company. He is currently lodged at the Marion County Correctional Facility on six counts of Sexual Abuse in the First degree and one count of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse on the First Degree.
The investigation is ongoing with many more interviews anticipated. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Tyler Chapman at (503) 566-6910.
