The United States... Land of Faux Ham

Well folks, I guess if we are going to settle for allowing the 536 wannabe hams to continue with their Soap Opera, we should at least give the Soap Opera a name.

(HARRISVILLE, N.H.) - According to an article titled “Finger pointing follows debt downgrade”, credited to msnbc.com staff and news service reports and last updated August 6, 2011 at 1:23:14 AM, the expected finger pointing has begun. The Obama administration is indignant that Standard and Poors would dare to downgrade the U.S. credit Rating from AAA to AA+. Minnesota Republican Michele Bachmann (GOP poll-leading candidate for her party's presidential nomination in 2012) has called for the resignation of Tim Geithner. House Speaker John Boehner has stated that said Democrats "who run Washington remain unwilling to make the tough choices required to put America on solid ground." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claims that the final plan should have included increased taxation for the richest few percent. Nancy Pelosi, Rep. California, who insisted the new Health-Care legislation be passed without sufficient time to read and digest it, now is demanding that the 12 person Congressional group charged with finding additional cuts, do so with total transparency from the beginning

Standard and Poors did not allow our government to pull the wool over their eyes or to bully them into submission. Whether Moodys will exhibit a similar set of brass testicles and retain its credibility as a valid credit rating agency, remains to be seen. The supposed agreement not only did not go far enough, it was a joke from the outset!

In my opinion, this is all a part of the continuing Soap Opera performed daily by our Congress. We have 536 people (Congress + the President) all sitting in a circle, with every person pointing to the person on their right naming them as the guilty party. The sad fact of the matter is that they are all right this time. Watching what transpired over the last several weeks regarding the Debt Ceiling debate tells us exactly what we have become. A country of greedy, lazy individuals who would rather watch a group of 536 wannabe Hollywood hams trash our country more and more every day, than to stand-up for the way things ought to be. It has become too much trouble to write letters to our Senators and Representatives or to our local newspapers. The few of us who do are such a small representation of the voting public that it sends a clear message that generally, “we really don’t care”!

How about “The Misguiding Light”, “All My Corrupt Children”, or “As The World Burns”. To some extent, they would all fit but... that is just my opinion!
