(HILLSBORO, Ore.) - Hillsboro Police responded to a robbery call Wednesday that involved the robbery of a woman who sells small amounts of produce. It happened at 9:00 PM at the intersection of 14th avenue and Walnut Street. Police say the victim, 33-year old Luz Maria Calderon-Ayala, was selling produce from a small produce truck at the location with her 3-year old daughter present.

A male suspect approached her through an open rear door of the vehicle and demanded her purse and a small white bucket containing cash receipts from her business. The suspect confronted the victim with a gun and knife then grabbed the white bucket of cash and fled the location in a green Acura car. Officers flooded the area and discovered the suspect, identified as 45-year old Jose Ortiz-Saldana, a transient, driving a car fitting the description of the suspect vehicle.

Officers discovered the money bucket containing $200.00 cash in the vehicle and arrested Ortiz-Saldana for Robbery-1 and lodged him in Washington County Jail. The victim and her daughter were unharmed during this incident.
