(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - On Thursday, the Portland Police Bureau learned that an off-duty sergeant was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants by the Gresham Police Department. Sergeant James McMurray, an 18-year-veteran of the Portland Police Bureau assigned to the North Precinct Night Relief, was off-duty Thursday morning and was involved in a non-injury crash in the area of Southeast 190th Drive and Southwest 31st Street in Gresham. Officers from the Gresham Police Department responded and after their investigation arrested Sergeant McMurray for DUII, Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (two counts). Sergeant McMurray has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the ongoing investigation and internal review process. This incident will be the subject of an internal review and presentation to the Bureau's Performance Review Board. The Portland Police Bureau cannot comment further regarding ongoing personnel matters. Source: Portland Police
