(SALEM) - A single car crash on River Road South claimed the life of one man early this morning. It happened shortly before 3:00 AM this morning. Salem Police Lt. Dan Connor says the car, a 1991 Accura Integra, was traveling northbound on River Rd S at about 2:30 AM when the driver lost control of the car causing it to leave the road and hit a tree. The driver, 22-year old Dorians Emmanuel Alvarez of Salem, apparently died of injuries resulting from the crash. Mr. Alvarez was the only occupant of the car. Connor says it is unclear if speed or alcohol contributed to this crash. Police are continuing to investigate the crash. This is the kind of reporting I would expect of the S-J, not Salem News. A Marion County Sheriff's lieutenant identified as a Salem Police officer, then a statement that the MCSO Crash team is investigating. Doesn't the writer notice something wrong here? A victim identified by name, and then a statement that the victim's identity is not being released until next of kin are notified. Come on Salem News, you are my news heros. Don't slip into the shoddy reporting style of the S-J.
