Is Obama Influencing Israeli Unrest?

Conservatives suggest it is true, but other left leaning politicians and trends in Israel could have a lot to do with it.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Peter Paton from The Conservative Papers sent an article to Salem-News.com today, suggesting that U.S. President Barack Obama is behind Israel's current wave of domestic protests and civil unrest. The suggestion is reminiscent of claims made during Iran's so-called 'Green Revolution' - that the internal unrest was an ambition of the west. Either case takes the pressure, seemingly, off the government inspiring the protests.

The stage is important in this act, because the growing world community of activists who seek to see human rights restored in Palestine, along with full recognition by the United Nations and a restoration of Palestine's 1967 borders, are not people who believe Obama is on their team.

In his article, Paton writes, "The widespread demonstrations by the Tent City protesters in Tel Aviv over apparently over housing shortages, and the fiery rhetoric by militant Left Wing unions and the lightning strike action by doctors, are thought by some Israeli intelligence sources to be orchestrated by the Obama administration, so as to overthrow the Netanyahu Coalition Government, and install a pliable and malleable Tzipi Livni and her Kadima Party in office, so as to accept Obama’s indefensible 1967 Borders, which would ultimately lead to the destruction of the State of Israel as we know now it".

Tzipi Livni is with Israel's Kadima Party

Tzipi Livni rallies for Palestinians, she stands against hate crimes, roots for gay and lesbian people, and was the first Israeli cabinet minister who explicitly stated that Palestinian guerrilla attacks against Israeli military targets were different from terrorist attacks against civilians.

In an interview on the US television news show Nightline, recorded on

She stated in a 28 March 2006 Nightline episode, "Somebody who is fighting against Israeli soldiers is an enemy and we will fight back, but I believe that this is not under the definition of terrorism, if the target is a soldier." I can see how this type of statement would earn Livni a black eye with the right yet endear her to the left. Over time Livni has become one of Israel's leading voices for the two-state solution. Sources describe her as having a reputation for being honest, clean, and sticking to her principles. In 2011 Livni was named one of "150 Women Who Shake the World" by Newsweek and The Daily Beast.

Regarding other developments, Paton writes, "Further suspicion has been aroused by former Mossad head Meir Dagan’s stinging rebuke of Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s ambitions to attack Iran, and destroy their nuclear capabilities, and have been similarly heightened by the recent outspoken comments against Bibi’s Coalition Government by ex Israeli army officers, who are planning to visit Washington DC to air their grievances with top level contacts in the Obama administration".

Meir Daggan is the former head of Israel's intelligence services

Meir Dagan? This is the feared former Mossad leader who headed an undercover commando unit, Sayeret Rimon, charged with combating increasing insurgent based violence in the Palestinian territories. He was responsible for a lot of death and a lot of controversy, and would have at one time seemed like the last individual who would speak out directly against the Netanyahu government.

After parting from the Mossad, Dagan made numerous controversial public statements over a proposed Israeli military strike on Iran's nuclear facilties. Dagan asserted that such an attack would be “a stupid idea". "The regional challenge that Israel would face (following such an attack) would be impossible". Reports at the time quoted this long time Israeli fighter saying he believed he had to speak out after the recent retirement of both chief of general staff Gabi Ashkenazi and Israel Security Agency head Yuval Diskin, "there is no one to stop Bibi [Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu] and [Defense Minister Ehud] Barak."

Paton says, "The simmering personal antipathy between the US President Barack Hussain Obama and the right wing Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, appears to be taken another deadly direction if these fears are found to be legitimate, as the Democrat President is hell bent on granting the Palestinians a State which would be founded on the indefensible 1967 borders, and dividing Holy Jerusalem between the Jews and Arabs, an outcome which would be disastrous in the eyes of many informed observers, and which would inevitably bring out into the open, the widening chasm between Israel and the present Obama led administration. This perceived meddling in Israeli politics by Obama and his inner circle, will infuriate the Israeli Right and the Congressional Republicans in the US House of Representatives, who are naturally sympathetic to the Land of Israel, and will add fuel to the fire for those who are clamoring for the Impeachment of Barack Obama".

Of course an increasing number of people today are pushing for Palestinian statehood solely over Israel's long running series of human rights violations and property theft from Palestinian families. The trends include powerful activists for Palestine being murdered, Israeli politicians refusing to apologize for murdering citizens of other nations, and constant cries of 'antisemitism' when writers engage the subject without stating a clear bias for Israel.

I will close with a paragraph I wrote in response to another similar story earlier today, and I am including a list of links to past Salem-News.com articles about antisemitism which our friend and fellow writer Debbie Menon in Melbourne kindly compiled and sent in this week.

"Zionism" is a belief of entitlement- that certain people should have more because of the suffering of their ancestors, and that they get things for free that other people had to work for and purchase. My widely shared belief, is that no country can exist with moral decency when it has better rules and laws for people of one particular religion. It is an automatic creation of ethnic cleansing, because that is what the commitment brings. This is the same thing that took place in Sri Lanka two years ago, where the Sinhalese Buddhist government killed between 40 and 100,000 Tamil citizens who are mostly Hindu and also partly Christian. There can not be religious government, same story in the "Islamic Republic of Afghanistan".

Israeli Air Force generals that are demanding a strike on Iran's nuclear program are being used to set the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled.

Editor: Are these particular generals on the Israeli war crime suspect list?

In the early eighties the Israeli Air Force led the attack and the bombing of the nuclear reactor in Iraq in order to shut down Saddam Hussein's nuclear program. Now some of these same officers are demanding a similar attack on Iran's nuclear program, a program that is working to develop a nuclear weapon of mass destruction. Israel's political leadership says that Iran's potential for a nuclear weapon of mass destruction is the major threat to the Jewish state of Israel. Iran not only threatens Israel, but the entire Middle East is very concerned about a nuclear powered Iranian military.

Editor: Pure fantasy, anyone can read the history for themselves, the U.S. orchestrated the Iraq/Iran war and it was terrible, you are equally bad for stating such outward lies here at Salem-News.com, it will only happen once.

The radical rhetoric and the ongoing development of a nuclear weapon of mass destruction is actually part of an agenda for the last days that can be found in Bible prophecy. Ezekiel wrote some 2500 years ago that Iran would indeed be a major player in the last days. Ezekiel used the Biblical title for Iran when referring to them in Ezekiel 38:5 where he used the term "Persia". Until 1936, Iran was known as Persia but today they are known as Iran, the troubling nation of the east found in Daniel 11:44. Iran has become a major player in the unrest in the Arab world and Iran's influence impacts every single terroristic event in the Middle East region.

With good reason, the Israeli Air Force generals want to bomb Iran because Bible prophecy will be fulfilled.

Editor: Nothing true to what you said at all, aside from a couple of things at the very top.  Israel is a nuclear entity that has not a single warhead declared.  I have a major story under production about this right now.  iran has no history of aggression toward the west, but Israel has killed Americans, attacked the U.S.S. Liberty leaving dozens dead in 1967, and it is the grossest violator of  human rights since Pol Pot in Cambodia.  We will see it come to an end.

Tim, your definition of Zionism is unworthy of someone of your intelligence. Zionism is the belief that the Jews have the right to live in their age-old homeland, where they have had an uninterrupted presence for over 3,200 years.

Tim King: Look, you can't have a legitimate monotheistic culture.  That's it.  If you believe you can, then you have to believe in ethnic cleansing and apartheid and there is no way you really could convince yourself of that is there?  Why do people deserve something that they did not personally purchase?  It is all about military conquest?  If so the playing field is not fair because Israel has so much endless U.S. support.  I am trying to just give you the things that are in my mind.

When Jews of the diaspora started rejoining their brethren in the Holy Land in a big way, back in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, they did not evict anyone from their land. They BOUGHT land, fair and square. When Arabs in the area then began fleeing in anticipation of Israeli statehood in 1948, the Jews BEGGED them to stay.

Tim King: You are not working from accurate history, do you know about Deir Yassin?  Do you have any idea how many Arabs were killed?  It is true that other Arab nations have turned their backs, and it is equally true that many people from within Israel have tried to bring about change.  There is no excuse for apartheid or ethnic cleansing, or religious settlements.

Arab countries, alas, instead persuaded Palestinian Arabs that they should vacate the land until the Arab League managed to kill the state of Israel at its birth. Too many Palestinian Arabs bought into that and departed.

Tim King: They were being rampantly murdered by Zionist Jews from the Irgun and the Stern Gang.  This is the story heartlander, I sense that you believe what you are citing to be fact, but you must look at it from a bigger view, please.

The Israelis did not force them out; they left, of their own accord, because of the war being threatened by their fellow Arabs. To blame the Jews for the Arab League's attempt to exterminate them is an example of blame-the-victim mentality.

Tim King: Oh man, this is sad.  Again, I believe that you believe this stuff and I am going to give you the benefit of  the doubt.  Murder is murder heartlander, and lots of Palestinians were murdered and you suggest that they left their family homes so easily and willingly, no way, only to prevent their families from being murdered.  You should also examine the attacks on the British who along with the Americans, had just defeated Hitler to the benefit of Jewish people, all people, an the 'Israeli' response was to plant a bomb in the King David Hotel.  There is much to learn, you can't have a religious government, it is terrible and will never ever work.

As I read article after article re: Israel and Palestine, I am amazed at how few articles focus on equality (or rather the lack of same). I have to disagree with you on this one Anonymous. While Obama may be stirring the pot, he is not responsible for all of the unreest in the Middle East. Much of what we are witnessing now has been brewing for longer than Obama has been in office. Yes, he may be trying to bring it to a head but to say he is behind it, is not right.

Anonymous August 3, 2011 10:23 pm (Pacific time)

The Obama Administration is behind all the unrest in the Middle East. One way to get the Islamic Brotherhood in charge of the Countries. I would not be surprised if our Government is behind that one, Obama is anti Israel and anti American. God figure, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what that President is up too.
