I see no problem with the image what-so-ever. Being an artist myself I have drawn many men and women naked and clothed and everywhere in-between. This image is semi-nude of the back, we see NOTHING of the front. Very tastefully done I thought. This is a clear case of ultra conservative people projecting their own hang-ups onto society. Just because some of you are incapable of viewing this picture without imagining X-rated situations involving a 15-year old, which lets face it, says waaay more about you than it does about the image in question, doesn't mean the image is sexual in nature.

Annie Leibovitz well done you pulled it off, you were able to capture a child in what presents as a suggestive pose. What next? Is every little fuzzy headed fifteen year old want -to-be going to try and imitate this stupid action. The kid isn't showing anything she wouldn't show at the beach or by the pool, its the suggestive underlying inference that has everyone in a spin and this was consciously contrived photography. There are nudist colonies all around the world who openly post nude pictures of kids from any young age and up. Its not like she is actually naked and even if she was, its only natural. She is a role model for young girls and she is setting an example that nudity just is not about puberty. If anything, this is helping kids realize that life might just not be about mindless reproduction and something a little more important than that. People just get so worked up about something that the public eye is not used to seeing, or does not think they should be seeing. You need to lighten up a little and see things from the view that it was intended and not from the view that your mind immediately takes you to. Why do you think that no ones is looking at this and saying it is art? It is the media's fault in the first place for taking pictures or showing commercials of any person (especially women) and making it perverted. Vic is "right on the money" here (4/29/8:19 am). AND "the money" is why all such shots are made, with subject okay. It is established fact that response is in large part what viewer brings to the image. For LMA assignment in Chicago, I did ONLY ten-year survey of photos used in corporate Annual Reports, where they are major tool,with interviews with 50-or-so international photographers and review of some 400-600 ARs, each year... so learned something about images and how they shaped for impact purposes. Also have had correspondence contacts with Leibovitz, re other image-impact areas also part of ongoing reports in 3 of major business/industrial photo-mags. (Technical Photo, Functional Photo, Studio Photo; PTN Corp. publishers.)

I believe it is a picture intended for art purposes. The fact that the world is turned upside down today and there is so many cases of perverts in it, doesnt allow the real art and beauty of this picture to be portrayed. But oh well this is the real world and that really sucks for her.

Big deal.. OOOOhhhhh TOPPPPLESSSSS Please... Topless means boobs exposed. If one goes to a topless bar you don't see women with breasts covered behind sheets.. If they were pictures of her swimming in a bikini would that be such a big deal? She's certainly covered more in that pic than if she had a bikini on. I vote this the biggest non-news item of the month...

ok it is wrong, but seriously have you seen pictures of non-famous 15 year old girls, there have been much worse. she is in the spotligh so she should be more careful but as for those myspace pics, honestly she is being a 15 year old girl, you think those were bad look at pictures from little girls in middle school and high school in my town and your own!
