(PORTLAND) - Last night, Thursday April 24, 2014, Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives arrested a man in connection with a homicide earlier this month. 41-year-old Shawn Michael Sanchez was arrested and booked early this morning into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Murder and Burglary in the First Degree. He will be arraigned sometime today. The charges stem from the stabbing death of 44-year-old Victor "Todd" Howell. This investigation started on Sunday April 6, 2014, at 9:11 a.m., when East Precinct officers responded to Portland Adventist Medical Center on the report that a man arrived by private car, suffering from a stab wound. Officers arrived at the hospital and learned that the victim, Howell, died after medical staff was unable to save him. Homicide detectives responded to the hospital and began a homicide investigation. The Oregon State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined that Howell died of a stab wound. In the early morning hours of April 7, detectives served a search warrant at 14630 Southeast Caruthers Street in connection with this investigation and believe that it is the location of the stabbing. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned of Sanchez' identity and developed probable cause to arrest him for murder.
