(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Salem Fire Department is offering a Free Fire Safety Class on Thursday, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Salem Fire Department's Training Office 2740 25th Street SE. This class is specially designed for families and will cover; Home Fire Safety, Smoke Detectors, Home Escape Plans and Juvenile Fire Setting. Home Fire Safety will teach you how to recognize potential fire hazards in your home. Smoke Detectors will cover what type of detector you should have in your home and where it should be placed. Escape Plans in the Home well help assure that you and your family get out safely. A fire doubles in size every minute and you need to have a plan in place before a fire occurs. Juvenile Fire Setting will discuss the warning signs of a juvenile fire setter and what to do if your child plays with fire. Juvenile fire setters are the number one cause of intentionally set fires.
