Gas is not a bargain Rosenberg. You do not have to hike the price to promote a cheaper source. Alternative energy is now going on 40 years at least. Whenever an alternative is proposed, big oil buys out the patent. Watch "Who Killed The Electric Car". This fossil fuel nonsense is an old story. The sun is our best source. Touch the roof of your car even on a winter day. Shale is very expensive to extract besides, big oil controls the government not the other way around. The only solution is to execute people like Lee Raymond and all the rest of them that have us hooked on this archaic source of energy. I also have seen many Americans that do not need a V-6 go to a 4 but not nearly as many as you would expect given the current artificial shortage created by the oil companies themselves with the paid off blessings of the government whom you expect to solve your auto gas costs. I know the economic concept that you are talking about but know that with the right technology, gas would be as cheap as generic water on sale or as cheap as the water from your faucet.

I do have oil stock, but gas is still a bargain, plus maybe as prices continue to rise people will use less, then with any luck we'll have the government subsidize "good" research into converting oil shale rock into gas (we have the worlds largest supply of shale). Suffice, we could become totally independent from the need to import.

K R Lube it! Watch the economy really collapse especially for those in already struggling rural areas. Only someone with stock in the oil sector would make such a comment. I'll walk before I pay that or get a motorcycle.

I'm betting in a few years we'll fondly remember the days of three dollar a gallon gas.

Still a bargain. Heck, if at $10.00 a gallon it would still be a fair market value.
