(Salem) - Working together with local teams, colleges and high schools, Salem-News.com is proud to announce the SNc Sports Section. "This is the beginning of a whole new era for Salem and the mid-Willamette Valley," comments Tina Miller, Sports Director for Salem-News.com. The SNc Sports Section will roll out in phases. The premiere includes Local and Regional High School and College National Sports News, Pro and Semi-Pro News, updates, features, schedules, special columns and more. `We`re covering more sports than just the norm. You`ll see a lot of unique sports like the Nelscott Tow-in big wave surfing contest, racing at Lebanon and Woodburn, and others like skateboarding, biking, even footbag championships, and we`re on the lookout for what is most important to our viewers. They`ve waited long enough for the media to recognize what is happening in the local sports world." Video streaming too! Salem-News.com sports photographers will be making appearances at local sports venues to get footage of games, practices and more, for our fully-produced video stories which will be streamed, as the news stories are. `Television is where most of our team comes from, so video is an absolute must," notes Bonnie King, General Manager. `We`re very excited about providing sports stories to our viewers in a format they`ll really enjoy. This is professional-grade production, and something we feel our market deserves." `We`ve collaborated with all of the local teams, and are going to demonstrate the depth of what is going on in our own back yard, so to speak. People always say there`s nothing to do in Salem, and we really want to prove them wrong. Let`s get the kids out to the games!" said Miller. The SNc Sports Section will feature a `Coaches Corner" on a weekly basis, where area coaches are introduced to the community. The dedicated sports section will also list upcoming sporting event schedules, and content suggestions are welcome, as Salem-News.com strives to provide information relevant to the community. Young journalists are encouraged to join the SNc Sports team. Every school in our area will be represented, and students may be a part of the reporting team, by simply contacting our sports department. Miller added, `This is an opportunity for people to have what they want in a local sports section. Salem-News.com is locally owned and operated, which means we can make important decisions quickly. We are open to great ideas, just get a hold of us!" Include Salem-News.com in the distribution of press releases, schedules, background information and updates about your school/organizations sports activities. If you would like to request coverage for a specific event, we ask for a minimum of seven days in advance for planning purposes.
