Police Attempt to Identify Body Found on Beach

Initial observations indicate the body may have been in the water for a long period.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are trying to positively identify the remains of an unidentified body found Tuesday afternoon washed up on the beach in Lincoln City. They say they are working with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner.

According to Lieutenant Kelly Collins, yesterday at approximately 1:50 PM a report was received of a body washed onto the beach near the Nordic Oceanfront Inn in the 2100 block NW Inlet Avenue in Lincoln City.

Oregon State Police and Lincoln City Police Department personnel responded to the scene. Initial observations indicate the body may have been in the water for a long period.

Oregon State Police from the Newport Area Command office are investigating and working with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner's Office toward positive identification of sex and name. No further information for release at this time.
