(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal car crash that occurred Monday evening in a rural part of the county.

Sheriff's investigators tell Salem-News.com that deputies responded to the crash located in the 500 block of Howell Prairie Rd NE, just north of the intersection of Howell Prairie Rd NE and State St. The crash involved a single vehicle, a 1990 Subuaru Legacy sedan which was traveling northbound on Howell Prairie Rd NE.

Investigators say it appears that the car left the roadway and crashed into a power pole.

The driver, who was identified as 35-year old Dana Marie Johansen of Silverton, was the only occupant in the vehicle and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
