Salem Camp to Help Kids With Family Members Who Are Deployed

The National Military Family Association estimates that over 115,000 children in the U.S. have a family member that is deployed.

(SALEM) - A free week-long summer camp will put together children of deployed soldiers to help them deal with the stress associated with having a family member serving during wartime.

Operation Purple, is open to 100 children in grades three through eight.

Campers can enjoy swimming, canoeing, adventure swings, archery, crafts, nightly campfires and all of the amenities to make this a memorable summer adventure.

Registration runs now through May first, and is on a first come first serve basis.

The camp, to be held at the 4-H center west of Salem, will be from July 16th through the 22nd.
