The Obama administration ratchets up the rhetoric about Iran, but Ray McGovern wonders if this is just another dangerous hype.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said publicly that Iran “doesn't directly threaten the United States.” Her momentary lapse came while answering a question at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum in Doha, Qatar, on Feb. 14.
Fortunately for her, most of her Fawning Corporate Media (FCM) fellow travelers must have been either jet-lagged or sunning themselves poolside when she made her unusual admission.

I remind all of us that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, a former corporate attorney for Monsanto has not recused himself from this case.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments Tuesday regarding a federal judge's temporary ban on a breed of pesticide-resistant alfalfa, setting the stage for the court's first-ever ruling on genetically modified crops.
This might indeed be an opportunity to strike a more permanent blow to Monsanto and its latest horror - genetically modified seeds and crops.

Salem Police Taser Use Blamed in $6M Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The lawsuit claims Rold's civil rights were violated, the police officers' negligent actions caused his death and excessive force was used against him.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
The family of a Salem man who died after Salem police hit him with a Taser has filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the city, several city employees and police officers.
The suit is seeking upwards of $1.5 million in compensatory damages and $4.5 million in punitive damages, as reported by the Statesman Journal.

Oregon's Immigrant Rights Coalition condemns the decision of Arizona's governor to sign the most extreme legislation anywhere in the country to deal with the nation's broken immigration system.
SB 1070, signed into law this afternoon, will require local police officers to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are undocumented immigrants.
