(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - Members of the 173rd Fighter Wing are saddened by the news of Tech. Sgt. Ken Patsch's death, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 in an accidental fall in the Klamath River Canyon, near Keno, Ore.

Patsch was an engine mechanic in the 173rd Maintenance Group.

"Tech. Sgt. Patsch was always willing to help anybody at any time," said Senior Master Sgt. George Mulleneix, Patsch's supervisor, reflecting on his time at the 173rd FW.

"He loved his job as an engine mechanic and he had a dynamic personality. He never met a stranger and he will be deeply missed by everyone; the wing, the community and anyone that came in contact with him."

Lieutenant Col. Jeffrey Smith, 173rd Maintenance Squadron commander added, "We are sad to say goodbye to a co-worker and friend. He served his nation faithfully for over 15 years.

"In his 12 plus years at Kingsley Field, Ken touched many folks across the 173rd FW. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends in this difficult time."

Patsch joined the Marine Corps July 21, 1987 and joined the Ore. Air National Guard Dec. 6, 2001. A memorial service is being planned but is not currently scheduled.

The accident is under investigation by the Klamath County Sherriff's Office.
