(ALOHA, Ore.) - Early Friday morning, a man driving a pickup truck crashed into the side of an apartment building in Aloha. His vehicle struck the room where children normally sleep and caused severe damage to the building. The driver of the truck fled the scene, and deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding him. "When deputies arrived they found that the pickup had left the scene. The resident told them that he heard a loud crash in the children’s bedroom. Luckily the children had fallen asleep in the living room," Thompson said. "He rushed into the room and saw a pickup truck that had crashed through the wall. He could see the driver of the truck through the window. He described that man as a white male approximately 25-35 years old. The suspect backed up and left the scene without talking to the resident and without checking to see if anyone was hurt." Deputies conducted an area check for the suspect’s pickup, but they were unable to locate it. There was extensive damage to the building and the residents from the upstairs apartment had to be evacuated pending a structural inspection. Because the pickup also damaged the utility equipment on the exterior of the building, a Portland General Electric crew responded and shut down the power to the building. Thompson says the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating the white extended-cab pickup with significant front-end damage and the suspect who was driving it.
