(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County Fire District responded to a call for a rescue Sunday evening on 42nd Ave NE. A man had been roofing a 2-story playhouse when he suffered a dislocated hip and was unable to climb down from the roof. Due to the location of the playhouse on the property, rescue personnel gained access to the patient using the field belonging to The Peoples Church on Lancaster Drive. Salem Fire Ladder 2 was called to assist Rescue 323 in accessing and retrieving the injured man, using the ladder to reach over the fence and closer to the roof. Personnel rescued the injured man and transported him to the waiting ambulance using the ladder's basket. Battalion Chief Kim Batchelor stated that the rescue went very well, and that he was pleased with the teamwork of all involved. Marion County Fire District apparatus involved included Rescue 323, Engine 305, Squad 324, and was assisted by Salem Fire Department Ladder 2, Medic 12, and Engine 8.
