(Albany, Oregon) - The Oregon Council Against Arson (OCAA) has partnered with Albany area law enforcement and the Albany Fire Department in response to the 7 arsons that have taken place in the Albany area since October 22, 2010. According to the OCAA website www.or-iaai.net/OCAAf.htm: "The Oregon Council Against Arson (OCAA), is a joint task force of the Oregon Chapter International Association of Arson Investigators, the NW Insurance Council, and Oregon law enforcement, fire service, government and insurance communities. Working together to educate the public about the nature of the arson problem, they are equally committed to reducing the incidence of arson by promoting greater citizen involvement in solving such crimes. In a statewide effort to fight arson in Oregon and to send a strong, unified message that "Oregonians will not stand by and allow arsonists to get away with such devastating crimes against lives and property," the OCAA maintains an anti-arson cash reward program. This program provides cash awards to citizens who provide information to law enforcement that leads to the arrest and conviction of arsonists. In addition to the cash awards, the OCAA sponsors a toll-free statewide hotline to encourage citizens to provided information (anonymous if requested) on arson crimes, that may lead to the arrest and conviction of arsonists." Anyone with information regarding any of the following Albany area arsons is asked to contact the OCAA hotline at 800-452-7888: News Release from: Albany Police Articles for November 22, 2010 | Articles for November 23, 2010 | Articles for November 24, 2010 | Support Salem-News.com: Quick Links
