Monmouth Woman's Body Found on Beach Near Lincoln CitySalem-News.comThe victim's name and age will be released Sunday.
(GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore.) - A Monmouth-area woman was found dead Saturday morning by a person walking on the beach of Salishan Spit, south of Lincoln City. Police say there is no indication of foul play and the investigation will be continued by Oregon State Police with the assistance of the Lincoln County Medical Examiner's Office. The report of a body on the Salishan Spit came in around 8:30 AM Saturday, after it had washed onto the beach on the south side of the interest to the Siletz Bay Oregon State Police and Depoe Bay Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the scene but initially were unable to identify the woman because there was no identification with the body. During the day, Lincoln City Police were contacted and advised by a group of women visiting the area that a member of their group had left a note at the residence where they were staying saying she was going to her favorite location in the Taft area to go agate hunting. The note was found about 7:00 AM but the woman failed to return. Her car was found locked near the area where she was going to be, but the women could not find her. Lincoln City police notified Oregon State Police of the missing person report and through identifying information provided by her friends, the deceased woman was positively identified. The location where the victim was found was about 3/4 mile south of where she had planned to go agate hunting. Story continues below
The victim's name and age will be released Sunday. Oregon State Police investigators will consult with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner regarding any need for an autopsy. Depoe Bay Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene to help with recovery of the victim.
