Search Underway for Missing Person in Marion County

The woman is described as having limited mental capacity.

(SALEM, Ore.) - UPDATE: On 11-14-08, at 5:00 PM, Kathleen Hurtado was located near Haysville and Riemann Street NE, approximately 6 miles from the location she was last seen. It appears she walked to that location and was sitting on a curb when a concerned citizen approached her to ask if she was okay. Ms. Hurtado was cold and hungry and it appeared she may have fallen but she was uninjured.

The Sheriff's Office would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizen who made contact with Ms. Hurtado. Without her involvement, Ms. Hurtado could have remained lost and in the cold weather over night.

They say this is an excellent example of a citizen noticing someone or something out of place in their neighborhood and responding rather than driving by or doing nothing. The Sheriff's Office would like to encourage people to get involved in their community and get to know their neighbors.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating a 47-year old female who was last seen today at approximately 10:30 AM.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says Kathleen Hurtado was last seen at 3180 Center Street in Salem.

She is six feet tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. Ms. Hurtado has hazel eyes, and gray hair pulled back with a thin white headband.

She was wearing a pink sweater, black sweat pants and white tennis shoes.
