GOVERNOR KULONGOSKI IS ASKING THAT ALL STATE FLAGS AT PUBLIC INSTUTUTIONS BE FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF FROM SUNRISE UNTIL NOON ON MONDAY IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE LINE OF DUTY.

THE GOVERNOR WILL SPEAK AT THE WILLAMETTE NATIONAL CEMETERY DURING THEIR MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY THAT IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN AT 10:00 AM.

AN EARTHQUAKE RATTLED OFF THE OREGON COAST ON SATURDAY.

THE 4.8 QUAKE STRUCK AT 12:50 PM, AND WAS CENTERED 194 MILES WEST OF COOS BAY. THE QUAKE HAD A DEPTH OF JUST OVER 6 MILES.

CITY OF SALEM PUBLIC WORKS CREWS ARE CURRENTLY IMPROVING DOWNTOWN SALEM SIDEWALKS.

THE IMPROVEMENTS ARE PART OF THE DOWNTOWN STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM THAT HAS BEEN IN PLACE SINCE 1985.

CREWS HOPE TO HAVE THE WORK COMPLETED BY JULY 30TH.

CREWS WILL ALSO BE RECONSTRUCTING FALLING TILE ON AREAS OF EXISTING STREETSCAPE THROUGHOUT THE DOWNTOWN AREA.

THAT PROJECT IS SET TO BEGIN ON JUNE 1ST, AND BE COMPLETED BY AUGUST 1ST.

RAIN HAS FORCED THE CANCELLATION OF THE CLASS 4-A QUARTERFINAL BASEBALL MATCH-UP BETWEEN WEST SALEM AND ALOHA.

THE SALEM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO APPROXIMATELY 40 WATER RESCUE CALLS PER YEAR.

THE LIFE JACKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER JUNE 1ST, AT THE DOWNTOWN FIRE STATION, #1, AND THE WEST SALEM FIRE STATION #5.
