(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police say they put a quick end to a potentially dangerous situation Tuesday, when an apparently armed suspect, who may have kidnapped a woman, opened a vehicle's passenger door, and caught the attention of police. The vehicle reportedly failed for yield to a traffic stop. Salem Police Sgt. Dennis Engel says two DART officers were attempting to pull the car over. "The vehicle was slow in yielding, the passenger door kept coming open and it looked like he was going to run. Finally they made the traffic stop and the passenger ran", Engel said. "He gave chase, we brought the dogs in, there is some indication that this may have been a kidnap, we haven't confirmed that yet." He did confirm that during the K9 search, officers found a weapon and narcotics. Salem Police are continuing to investigate this incident and we will update the story when we learn more. ------------------------------------------------------ Jerry Freeman begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting is part of a new generation of dedicated news photographers who are entering the Internet news industry as a second career.
