Albany, Oregon Man Arrested After Calling in Phony Bomb Threat

The Linn County Courthouse was evacuated for approximately one hour while deputies searched for any suspicious items.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - The Linn County Courthouse was evacuated this morning after a man called 911 saying he had left a bomb inside.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says the call came in at 7:58 AM, and the man would not say where he left the bomb.

Dispatchers were able to determine that the call originated from a payphone in downtown Albany.

Mueller said the Courthouse was evacuated for approximately one hour while deputies searched for any suspicious items.

At 9:00 AM the Courthouse was opened for regular business and deputies continued their investigation into the incident.

Acting on information obtained from witness in the area of the payphone, deputies working with Lebanon Police and Albany Police, located a male in the Lebanon area who had taken a bus from the Two Rivers Market in downtown Albany.

Police arrested 29-year-old Jeffery M. Wacek from Albany after being interviewed.

Wacek was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct I, and Initiating a False Report.

He was lodged at the Linn County Jail in lieu of $3,750 dollars bail.

Police are still investigation the incident.
